Meet Nandi Smit
Nandi Smit is a passionate franchise owner, highly skilled instructor, and devoted mother of three. Her youngest completed Baby Floating and is already swimming like a little fish — a true testament to Nandi's belief in early water safety and confident swimming foundations. With more than 400 hours of intensive Baby Floating (Self-Rescue Water Safety for Babies) training, Nandi opened the Kiddies Aqua Centurion branch in January 2021. Before becoming a franchise owner, she spent two years working full-time at the Tuks branch, gaining hands-on experience and deep insight into the Kiddies Aqua teaching method. Nandi's journey into the world of infant swimming began almost by accident. While photographing Lizette Botha, founder of Kiddies Aqua, for a Finesse Magazine feature, she witnessed Lizette's gentle and purposeful handling of babies in the water. Watching through her camera lens, she immediately felt drawn to this incredible field of infant and toddler swimming development. Two weeks later, she joined the team, and just two years after that, she opened her own franchise. Together with her husband, she expanded further and opened the Kiddies Aqua Waterfall branch in November 2025, allowing even more families access to world-class infant water safety and swimming education. Nandi has completed the Baby Floating Certification (Self-Rescue Water Skills), Swimming South Africa's Learn-to-Swim Instructor Course, CPR and First Aid Certification, and Annual Police Clearance renewal. She regularly attends in-house training and refresher sessions to uphold the high standards of the Kiddies Aqua franchise network. Nandi sees the Baby Floating and Learn-to-Swim programmes as beautifully complementary, guiding children from water safety foundations to confident stroke swimming. By the time her swimmers reach school age, they can already swim all four strokes — setting them up for a lifetime of confidence and competence in the water.

Self-Rescue Baby Floating
Ages 6–24 months. Teaches babies to float face-up and self-rescue from the very first lesson.
Learn-to-Swim

Any age. Refine technique for competitive or recreational swimmers.
Adult Swimming
